Portfolio Instructions

This is a supplemental blog to the original 4/11/18 blog....please see previous post!!!  Thank you.

If for any reason you cannot turn in your portfolio and/or interview on 4/18, send it with another student!!!

Portfolio Instructions Simplified:

White binder 2" with window front and plenty of sheet protectors and tabs

Title Page: CAREER AND ACADEMIC PORTFOLIO  (centered)  Your first/last name at the bottom (You may also use the format on the instructions hand out). Make it professional!

Placeholders are full 8-1/2 x 11 pages with the typewritten contents typed at the top. Ex: CPR CARD

Tips:

Networking Contact List (Just insert a page with that typed at the top) Put in resources tab.

*Resume
*References (3)
*Cover Letter Sample  *All three must have identical headers at the top with name, email and ph#

Copy of your informational interview - in resources tab
Sealed or opened copy of your transcripts (print from your school website)




Print examples from online sources.


PORTFOLIO SET UP (simplified)

Title Page: Outside cover of binder
Include your name and “Professional Career Portfolio”. Can add borders, graphics etc., just keep it professional

Tab 1: Professional Development  
1        Master application example/print one out      Resignation letter example
        Resume                                                                       Letter requesting a raise or promotion example
 Cover letter                                                                Interview Q & A (Job interview Q's I gave you)
 References                                                                 Create and Ad (selling YOU) - no pic needed
        2 letters of recommendation (You may put a place holder in for this) 
       Thank you note and envelope sample (thanking the interviewer)


Tab 2: Personal Growth
1.      Soft Skills (print a list of these from the internet)
2.      Career Awareness / Exploration Assessment & Reflection (career research paper)
3.      Leadership Development Reflection (typed reflection on leadership you have demonstrated)
4.      Community Outreach Reflection (typed 2- page reflection of volunteer position)
5.      Work Based Learning Reflection (typed 2-page reflection of your internship experience so far)
6.      3 Personal SMART Goals (see https://www.smartsheet.com/blog/essential-guide-writing-smart-goals)

Tab 3: Work Samples
Include 3 or more work sample that shows your skills and abilities. Can be project samples from this class or any other class that you excel in.


Tab 4:  Recognition
-          Awards and certificates (KEENAN too)
-          Letters of recommendation
-          Positive work evaluations (evals from site) - I'll give you these.



Tab 5: School documents (High School, College, Trade School etc.)
-          School Transcripts
-          Any other school related forms or documents


Tab 6:  Resources
-          Handouts given/ examples

-          Career interest articles
       CPR  Card and Immunizations/Vaccinations/TB testing, etc. (given to you in May) Make   placeholder.
       Copy of your informational interview
