There's a New Robot in Town!

Hello Interns!

The information below is for all of you, but especially those at Stanford ValleyCare.  Be aware that this technology will change lives.....and save them!

For all Stanford ValleyCare Interns:

From Nancy McNeil, ROP Nursing Careers     RE: Stanford ValleyCare Hospital
I was able to see the transition occurring with new computers and monitors in each room today.  I am waiting to see what type of thermometer they end up using, they have been testing disposable thermometers and also B/P cuffs.  I will adopt whichever thermometer they use so my students are familiar with it.
But the big news - I am thrilled about is the NEW Robot Lightstrike UV LIGHT they are bringing in.  It was sitting in the lobby (it's about 4ft tall) along with a sign they will be using this at the hospital.

This robot, when placed in a room, is the ONLY thing that can clear the room of CDIFF, MRSA, and DRE infections.
I was probably the most excited person to see this at the hospital today, but when reading my students journals each week the number of patients with CDIFF and MRSA is quite a shock.
All students at the hospital can be on the lookout for the robot!

FOR NEXT WEEK on 1/24:

Bring in any missing HW (see last week's blogs)

Gather these from home for your portfolio and bring them in:

Temporary tab sections for now:  Employment, Schools/Colleges, Diplomas/Awards/Certificates, Transcripts (current one for now - print from school website), Certification/Licenses, clubs/Organizations (like CMAA!)

Link for CMAA:  http://www.cmaa-ca.org/      Go to "Membership" tab.  Only $35.00 to become a student member!  Check this out too:  http://www.ccbma.org/  Talk to your parents about planning for the exam.
You will be eligible to take the basic and administrative exams if you pass the course with an A or a B and get a certificate of completion for Medical Occupations ROP.  Remember to look at the 1/10 blog for the Palko book to prep for the exam...one with a disk in the back of the book!

Evaluation due!  Contact me if there is a problem getting this completed and ready to turn in 1/24.

Time Sheet(s) - Remember to log your hours so you know how many you have accrued.

Flash Cards - Bring them to class and we'll practice with them here.  I'll store them for you.  I have some in the classroom that may belong to you.

Journal check.  Are you using the journal criteria?  Make sure you are!!! Thank you.
